CYO Jurisdiction and eligibility Information

Every participant must have a CYO number which is issues by the Diocese. 


CYO will automatically determine the athlete's eligibility based on the information provided, including the athlete's residence, Catholic school attendance (when applicable), and approved Religious Education enrollment.


Parents do not select a Home Parish during registration. Home Parish eligibility is determined automatically according to the official CYO Eligibility Rules and is reviewed by the CYO Office when necessary.


When Athletes register for the CYO, they are asked to declare a home parish based on Several Factors:


  1. Address
  2. Parish Player (they attend the Parish school or CCD program)


If the above criteria is not met, the home parish becomes "Pending" and they are assigned to a Parish.


To clarify eligibility rules


  1. Athletes are allowed to play for their Home Parish based on the eligibility listed above
  2. If they do not meet this criteria, (Public School Student/Non-CYO Parish Catholic school), they will then be placed at the closest participating CYO Parish within their deanery.
  3. If an athlete resides in a deanery that does not have a participating CYO Parish, they will be placed at the closest Geographical CYO Participating Parish.


Any athlete playing outside of their Home Parish will require a waiver, and questions will be asked by the CYO office, prior to being allowed to be placed on a CYO roster.
